After the frequent passage of traffic wheels the rail head is deformed and must be periodically corrected in terms of shape with a milling machine. This produces metal chips that must not be allowed to remain in the track bed. The chip module picks up these chips, collects them and discharges them to a road vehicle after a transfer point has been reached. The bottom of the collection container consists of a chain belt conveyor (>). To discharge the chips, a belt conveyor is pulled out of the module and locked in place as an inclined conveyor. Now the chain belt conveyor can be started and the material can be discharged via a horizontal conveyor and an obliquely arranged conveyor.
